The blare of an alarm clock is never a welcome sound, so the idea of setting your alarm for 10 minutes earlier than is strictly necessary may initially sound like a non-starter. However, there are several reasons why doing so can actually be beneficial to your overall health and well-being.

The Rush of Modern Life
For the majority of people, life is consistently busy. There’s always somewhere we need to be or a task we should be tackling; free time, where there is literally nothing else you should be doing, is a relatively rare thing these days.
However, while life has become busier, it’s important to note that this is rarely a choice. It’s a necessity inflicted upon us by the times in which we live. Most of us even know that a lack of truly free time is problematic and can have a cumulative impact on our mental health. But we have no other choice than to go along with the rhythms of the modern world because that’s the society we live in.
Self Care
The self-care revolution sought to try and address this issue and encourage people to focus on their own well-being, but many people have found that the need to focus on self-care can become just another task that has to be accomplished. While self-care is undeniably beneficial and has received great support, for some, it doesn’t quite constitute free time, as those benefits are something they are actively seeking to achieve.
All of the above considerations leave people with a problem: they know they need more free time, but the rigors of life make it almost impossible to obtain this. There’s too much to do, too many tasks that require attention, to find time in the day that could ever be labeled as free.
However, the key to overcoming this issue is found in the common phrase as acknowledged above: “there aren’t enough hours in the day”. We can switch it, reconsidering the concept: if there’s not enough time in a usual day, then take more time – and what’s the best way to do that? Go to bed 10 minutes earlier than you usually would, and then set your alarm for ten minutes earlier than is necessary.
10 Minutes To Do Whatever You Want
If you wake up 10 minutes earlier than you need to, you have a genuine window to do pretty much anything you want. You could do a few stretches, skim through social media; look at the newest releases on Slotathon; or, if you prefer, simply daydream for a while. The time is completely yours to use as you wish, because, technically, it’s time you would not normally have had – so there’s absolutely no need for you to fill it with tasks.
By taking an extra 10 minutes for yourself every morning, you have the opportunity to give yourself a small period of time that is just for you. You should find that, in time, those 10 minutes become something you actively look forward to; a precious period of time when you can do whatever you please, much to the benefit of your overall sense of well-being.
