If there is one feeling that every adult is aware of, it’s exhaustion. Whether you have children or you simply are just a very busy person, exhaustion can hit you like a ton of bricks. It’s different for everyone, but no one’s exhaustion means less than someone else’s. Feeling tired is one thing, but exhaustion is an entirely different thing and it’s difficult to handle.
So, how can you tell when you’re exhausted? How do you know what you’re feeling isn’t just because you’ve been doing the night shift while raising children? Below, I’ve put together seven signs that you’re truly exhausted.
1. You Dread Going Anywhere
When you started your career, you loved every second of it. And then the hours built up and the overtime began, and now you dread work so much you don’t want to go. Not only that, but you don’t want to leave the house because you’re just too tired.
2. You Get Sick Easily
Have you ever considered that you may be in need of researching the benefits of dehydration therapy? When you are exhausted, your immune system takes a massive hit, and sometimes, this can lead to dehydration. When you’re sick, you rest, you hydrate and you take some time – but often exhaustion goes beyond that and therapies may be needed.
3. You Can’t Concentrate
You’re trying to get things done, but you’re finding it all a little unmanageable right now. You’re distracted, you’re unable to be productive and you cannot concentrate on anything for too long – no matter how hard you try!
4. You’ve Got A Short Fuse
Patience is something we all have, but when you’re so wrung out you cannot manage, your patience is on the shortest possible fuse! You’re irritable and snappy, you’re burnt out and everyone is getting on your last nerve. It’s a classic sign of exhaustion.
5. Your Body Aches For No Reason
The constant stress doesn’t just lead to feeling sleepy. The stress gives you recurring and chronic pain, from headaches to stomach aches and more. Exhaustion can leave you feeling unwell, and you should get these checked out by a doctor if you are dealing with them often.
6. You Can’t Sleep
Exhaustion makes you feel tired, but you cannot get to sleep at night which is one of the most frustrating things to deal with. Fatigue is a symptom of burnout, but it’s also the fact that when you’re tired, all you want to do is relax. True exhaustion prevents you from doing that – it’s like the body can’t remember how to relax enough to fall asleep properly.
7. You Can’t Enjoy Activities
The symptoms of exhaustion can lead you to forget how to enjoy yourself. You’re too burnt out to get out and enjoy time with friends, you’re disinterested in your usual hobbies and you stop meeting all of your commitments. Alleviating burnout means slowing down and taking a break, as when you do this, you can start to feel a little more yourself again!
