2020 looked so promising in January but then February hit and everything just blows up in our faces. Stay-at-home orders, social distancing, and face masks have all played a part in why our love lives, and pretty much none of that has been good. All my single girlfriends are complaining that men are still ghosting and all my friends in relationships are struggling with spending so much time with their significant others. Living Alone
You’ve been living alone since the beginning of quarantine. It’ll be a surprise if you aren’t talking to your walls right now. Too much time alone can do a number on your mental health, especially if you’re not able to receive the amount of human interaction you crave.
If you weren’t lucky enough to be able to afford to move in with your partner for the duration of quarantine, your heart and head have probably been pulling you in different directions. One half of you enjoys your alone time to dance naked, watch cringey reality shows, and take up new hobbies. The other half of you is missing your other whole. You yearn for that connection, love, and support so you’re clinging to whichever screen you can for video calls.
Online Loving
No partner and living alone, huh? Dating apps have probably become a daily ritual for you. They give you human interaction and a fun way to flirt all from the comfort of your daytime couch pjs.
The porn industry really hasn’t skipped a beat, though. In England, glasgowsexsite.co.uk has grown in popularity since February 2020. And reports of sex in Surrey have skyrocketed. People are having to find new ways to entertain themselves and sex has become number 1. When people can’t get out to find love, they’ll stay in and romanticize the idea of the person they see on the screen.
Constant Contact
There is such a thing as spending too much time together. Even a couple hopelessly in love needs time to themselves. Nothing good can come from constant interaction. If you’ve been living in a smaller space with only the living room and bedroom as your quiet places, I feel for you. Outside has honestly become my best friend. Headphones have been a lifesaver, too. And, don’t get me started on if both of you are working from home. You have to find time to be apart and do things that each of you love separately.
Some couples are loving the time off from work and the extra time spent with their significant other. I am in the middle. I was able to work from home for 3 whole months, which I loved, while my significant other still went to work every day. I loved working from home but what I hated was all the time spent alone. I imagined myself working from home in a coworking space or a coffee shop a few days a week. Instead, my only interaction for 9 hours with a living being was when my pets came to interrupt my hard work.
Quarantine has all of us a little loopy and although the orders have lifted in most places, going out will still never be the same. 2020 has changed how we interact with strangers and loved ones forever.
So, which group are you in and which side of the coin do you fall on?
