Pets become more and more a part of the family everyday. So, when their birthday rolls around every year, it’s definitely a celebration over at my house! Gifts, treats, dog park visits, and even family visits happen over here. My babies are five and six so I’ve had a good bit of practice in this area.
If your furbaby is having a birthday soon, here’s seven fun ideas that will make them extremely happy when you tell them what it is.
Puppuccino
Since I don’t drink coffee and Starbucks gift cards are super popular, I pretty much always have one on hand at any given time. Getting Brindle in the car is never a struggle because she is obsessed with going anywhere the people are. Once we pull into that drive thru, it’s a wrap. She wakes up and starts wiggling all over. For dogs, I don’t think there is anything that compares to a puppuccino so whether it’s their first or their 10th, your dog will love it, too.
Illustration
This is for the corny pet mamas out there. Who wouldn’t love an adorable Pet Portrait to put on their wall or coffee mug. Now, of course, this isn’t exactly a gift for your pet but I think they would get the sentiment that you love them oh so much. Ha! We’ve all had those moment where we’re like “Look, it’s you!” with our pets and this would definitely be one of those moments. Vectorpets can hook you up with a portrait you can display and point out to your babies every morning.
Clothes
Now, I know not everyone agrees with pet clothes but hear me out. If you have a chihuahua or a chihuahua mix, like I do, they love to shake. My chug is always cold in the winter and getting her outside is virtually impossible if she doesn’t have something covering her body. You don’t have to put them in clothes everyday but just having a cute outfit to throw on for birthday pictures would be very cute to look back on later.
Toys
Of course, every pet loves their toys. Now, if your baby is anything like mine, they will tear those toys up in a hot minute. So instead of spending a ton of money on Kongs and other expensive toys that I know won’t last (from experience), I take my hard earned money straight to Family Dollar. Any of those dollar stores will do, honestly. She has no idea and can pull them apart until her heart is content.
Party
I love introducing my dog to new animals. Even my cat gets in on the action when he’s not too scared. I think it’s a great way to keep your pets safe in public around animals they never met before. Birthday parties with your friends and their pets cover learning how to meet new pets and celebrating how much you love yours. Meet at your house or a dog park and just let them play. Bring their favorite toys and have a good time in the sun while they make some new friends.
Subscription
There’s probably just as many subscription boxes for animals as there are for their owners. I personally love BarkBox. I’ll usually sign up for about 6 months during the holidays to get some of those cute themed toys for the seasons. She enjoys getting something new. It’s like the first time every time and seeing her excitement is the cutest thing. A recurring gift is one of the most special because it just keeps on giving.
Homemade Treats
If you love baking, this will be so much fun for you! I didn’t end up doing it this year as I originally planned, but it’s still on the menu for the holiday season coming up. You can grab some doggie treat shaped molds from the store. Some good ingredients are peanut butter, honey, pumpkin, apple sauce, oatmeal, carrots, and baby food. Choose your ingredients, mix them up with some flour and water, and fill up your molds. They cook to be so tasty! Even you can try them!
Celebrating your pets is something that every good fur parent should do. Pets become so much a part of the family. They can change your mood as soon as you see them and every time they see you there’s an immediate “OMG” moment in their eyes and body language that can’t be explained. Take care of your babies because they are always taking care of you with love, adoration, and tons of cuddles.
