How To Plan A Pumpkin Carving Party
1. Choose A Festive Location
Anything outside will pretty much do the trick. You don’t need anything fancy for this type of party because everything is going to get super messy. You don’t want pumpkin guts ruining a beautiful table so I definitely suggest keeping this shindig within the elements.
If your backyard, deck, or porch aren’t an option, find an open park! It’s super easy to set up tablecloths or old blankets that you don’t mind getting dirty or thrown away. You’ll all be able to stretch out and be comfy because, if you didn’t know, your legs are going to need a few breaks before your masterpiece is done.
2. Send Invitations
Now, if you’re like me, texts are your favorite invitations because they’re just so damn easy. But, if you’re like the party planner I’d like to be, digital invitations are super cute and get everyone in the festive mood as soon as they see it. Digital invitations set the tone of the party and show a little bit of personality.
For a messy party like this, I would definitely remind your guests that they don’t need to dress up. Tell them to wear something they don’t mind getting pumpkin guts on and not to worry with the makeup. This is supposed to be a relaxed environment.
3. Decorate For The Season
Depending on where you choose to host your party, you might not have a lot of decorating to do! If you’re outside in the grassy area, use the leaves as your backdrop. Gather them in a space that brings some color to the area. Lay your blankets or tablecloths in the center and create a cute circle of leaves around you to give that festive effect.
If you’re using your deck or porch, you have a little more room to work with. Grab some Halloween garland, some decorative pumpkins, and a fall wreath. Your guests will appreciate the effort and it’ll look great for photos.
4. Get Your Tools
The most important part of this whole party, besides your pumpkins, are your tools! Bring out the kitchen knives, large spoons, stencils, and sharpies. If you don’t have enough of either, a tool box like this one is perfect.
The one tool you’ll definitely need but that’s not for carving is a tripod to get the perfect group shot without leaving someone out or staining your arms with a selfie stick.
5. Find A Playlist
Grab your Spotify and put together a spooky playlist that can cover the silence when everyone starts really getting into their craft. If you don’t have time to make one, or really just don’t know enough spooky tunes, the soundtrack to The Nightmare Before Christmas is always a good fallback.
6. DIY Your Snacks
This the perfect time to make a fall/ Halloween charcuterie board. I put together one in about 12 minutes for me and 4 friends. Definitely include some seasonal treats like candy corn, chocolates, and nuts but the staples of cheese and meat never get old.
To stay on theme, you can add a few of these spooky little items to your board for a fun touch. Pinterest is always your friend for DIYs.
The recipe and full video of my charcuterie board can be found here.
7. Mix Up A Signature Drink
Pinterest is your friend, okay?! Check your bar and see what you have readily available. I’m a big proponent of using what you have. Fall wines and ciders are always a quick and easy drink. Just add a splash of bourbon and a cinnamon stick for the perfect fall drink. Pumpkin spice liqueurs are a hit during the season, too, and using come with a recipe for a tasty drink on the back of the bottle.
*I always use reusable plastic stemless wine glasses.

8. Get Your Pets Ready For The Fun
You can’t forget your fur babies when it’s time to have some fun! If they’re going to be around for the party, they should dress the part! My little girl has been a hotdog for all occasions for the past 2 years but click here for some cute pet friendly shirts and Halloween costumes for your babies.
