Stress and anxiety are, in this day and age, a real pain in the backside – and many other areas. It was necessary thousands of years ago when our ancestors needed to survive in the wilderness. If they didn’t have those neurological aspects to them, then they would’ve all been wiped out and we wouldn’t be here today. You can make a case and say they’re sort of needed now to make the right decisions, but the pair of them tend to rear their ugly faces far too often for our liking still.
The good thing is that we can combat stress and lower our anxiety levels by simply practicing. Some people’s default stance is to rush straight back to those two issues because that’s what they’re used to doing – and it’s what they’re comfortable doing, strangely and ironically. Anyone on the planet can allow themselves to think differently and react in such a way that it sends stress and anxiety packing. It won’t happen overnight, but it will happen if you keep at it. Here are some things you can do to help that particular process along the way:
Working Out
Exercising allows people to forget about what’s going on in their minds. The stress goes from the thoughts into the muscles. You’re battling against a force that is making your body ache, so you don’t have enough space to worry about trivial things. You also receive a rush of endorphins, which will allow you to see things with a much clearer and more positive outlook.
Playing Video Games
While this might seem like an option that exacerbates things, video games are a brilliant way of relaxing and occupying the mind. There was always a stigma attached to them, but that has all but vanished now. They not only reduce stress, but they build cognitive skills and allow people to become much sharper mentally and physically.
Meditating
Meditation is not for everyone, but it certainly works for everyone once they get the hang of it. You can go from stressed and annoyed to relax and chilled out in about twenty minutes. People like to use things like CBD honey sticks and oils while meditating to really maximize the mental side of things.
Heading Out For A Walk
This is easy to do and surprisingly helpful. It might seem like nothing, but it’s another form of exercise – albeit not all that intense. It’s also a great way to allow yourself to see the bigger picture. If you’re constantly stuck indoors thinking about the worst possible outcome, then you’re going to suffer a lot. Being outside in the real world allows you to realize there’s more to the horrors of your imagination or your current situation. Interacting with people you walk past will also do wonders for the way you see everything. A lot of the time, our issues are to do with social life, so a little human interaction could fix a lot.
